Let’s revisit a story never told until now: the story of Bel Œil and the Hôtel du Couvent in Nice…
A magnificent hotel project, which we’ve been following since its inception alongside our friends and clients—the architects—and for which Bel Œil eventually stepped out of its comfort zone… by developing truly exceptional furniture pieces.
Just a few elements, but we’re proud to have brought the Carimate chair by Vico Magistretti out of the archives, and to have convinced Fritz Hansen to reissue it, in agreement with the heirs of the Milanese Master…
We also had the pleasure of developing a contemporary rug model—based on an old Chinese rug unearthed for the project’s sponsor—produced by the French editor Toulemonde Bochart…
It was the result of long months of dialogue and exchange with the architects from Festen and the client, Valéry Grégo, to finally contribute—on our modest scale—to this remarkable project: Le Couvent.
