Alongside the 3rd United Nations International Ocean Conference, and as part of the Year of the Sea, Bel Œil is hosting, just steps from the port of Nice, the exhibition “Facing the Sea.”

Four artists, passionate and/or simply amateurs or lovers of the sea, offer us their perspective on this space cherished by the general public but still very little known to scientists.

Eric Bourret places us on the shore facing it, in a face-to-face with the horizon – that space opening onto all possibilities.

Nicolas Floc’h reveals the variety of marine habitats in the Mediterranean and familiarizes us with the color of the water.

Steven Pennaneac’h, also a regular of the shore which he visits almost daily, brings back from his solitary walks photographs – starting points for his paintings, memories of the marine landscapes crossed.

Ariane Michel, after filming the sleep of walruses in the Arctic, the nocturnal life of birds in Switzerland, turned her attention to the aftermath of a hurricane in North America. From this natural disaster linked to climate warming remain images that she edited especially for the exhibition and a few objects gathered along the way.
