Reconnecting with the roots of design.

The Milan Furniture Fair remains the ultimate global benchmark for designer furniture. Every year in late April, hundreds of thousands of visitors travel to the Lombard capital to discover current trends, the strategic visions of manufacturers, and the latest inventions from the greatest designers of our time.

For Bel Œil, it is, above all, an opportunity to come together and seek inspiration… found in the subtle details, in the intentions of the brands on their stands and in their showrooms, but also on every street corner, as the creative energy flows with such intensity during this magical week.

There is much diplomacy, negotiation, and marketing strategy involved with our manufacturing partners… But it is also the moment for us to shape our choices for the months ahead and define the aesthetic direction that aligns with our desires and our understanding of our local markets.

We engage in rich dialogue, reconnecting with colleagues on the stands and during evening events… we share this passion for design that has driven us for 30 years now, searching for that unique piece, the perfect decorative solution to enrich our interior proposals in the months to come.

The challenge is perhaps to successfully convey this idea of luxury and exclusivity without yielding to the gaudy or the sterile exuberance so often on display during these special moments, where everyone strives to demonstrate their strength…

Designers are there to remind us that “form follows function,” and that while manufacturers may sometimes succumb to the “more is more” approach, the most essential and simplest gestures remain the most enduring. We recall the words of the Export Director at Porro: “For us, even though we are aware of operating in a luxury market, the primary exercise is to succeed in removing elements rather than adding them to excess… that is where one truly reads the design gesture, the quality, and a form of serenity, of space…”
