Bel Œil presents the modular and timeless furniture system USM Haller.
We have collaborated for nearly 30 years, distributing this ever-relevant and highly modular collection. Our clients keep their USM furniture, move it around, reconfigure it, and adapt it as their needs change over time…

With USM Haller, we’ve outfitted numerous private clients with bookshelves, storage units, side tables, nightstands, or desks…
And of course, many professionals—lawyers, doctors, notaries, accountants, real estate agents, and large corporations—have been drawn to the system’s functionality and adaptability in space and time.
Our most remarkable stories are the ones built over time, especially with clients like Michael Zingraf Real Estate agencies, the media libraries of the Antibes Sophia Antipolis community, or EDHEC for its campuses in Nice, Lille, Paris, and London!
Each of these prestigious clients chose USM Haller for its spatial adaptability, long-term reliability, and the quality image it conveys…
Naturally, the system’s durability aligns perfectly with today’s CSR expectations.
Our teams are trained, equipped, and experienced with USM Haller assembly, making your installation even more efficient—come and discover it!
Founded in 1885 in Münsingen, Switzerland, the company USM (Ulrich Schärer Münsingen) began its journey as a locksmith and metalworking workshop. It was in the 1960s, under the leadership of Paul Schärer, grandson of the founder, that the brand took a decisive turn.
In 1961, he commissioned Swiss architect Fritz Haller to design the company’s new administrative building. Their collaboration gave birth to a modular construction system, which was soon adapted to the scale of furniture.
In 1963, Paul Schärer and Fritz Haller developed the USM Haller system: an ingenious assembly of metal tubes, chromed spheres and panels, designed to create custom-made, adaptable and evolutionary furniture. In 1969, the first major order – the fitting-out of the Rothschild Bank offices in Paris – marked the commercial launch of USM furniture.
Recognized for its limitless modularity, Swiss manufacturing quality, and timeless design, USM Haller quickly established itself in architectural offices, prestigious companies, and discerning private interiors.
Its minimalist aesthetic, both functional and elegant, attracts design lovers worldwide. In 2001, the system was added to the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, confirming its status as a design icon.
Today, USM Haller continues to innovate with solutions like USM Haller E (integrated lighting and power supply) and USM Privacy Panels, acoustic textile panels made from recycled materials.
Its color palette has expanded to over 14 shades, and its uses are ever-growing: office furniture, modular storage, TV stands, entryway furniture, dressing units, retail furniture, and even integrated planters.
USM Haller furniture embodies strong values: durability, flexibility, ecological responsibility, and heritage design.
Its success is built on 100% Swiss production and a network of certified retailers specializing in personalized consulting and tailored installations.
