Gerard Joseph Malanga, originally from New York, is an American poet, dancer, filmmaker, and photographer.
In 1963, Charles Henri Ford introduced the 20-year-old Gerard Malanga to the “Prince of pop art,” Andy Warhol. Initially hired at the Factory to work on screenprints, Malanga quickly became the archetype of the Warhol superstar. He was Warhol’s right-hand man from 1963 to 1970. He collaborated with him to create, among other projects, the Interview magazine.
Gerard Malanga was immersed in the entire underground New York scene of the 60s and 70s.

He later studied drawing and jewelry making at the School of Artisans of Sudanese (now the National Institute of Arts of Bamako) in Bamako.
In 1955, he joined Gérard Guillat-Guignard’s “Photo Service” studio, where he learned photography. He opened his first studio in 1958.

These studies introduced her to various ceramic techniques, such as raku, which she particularly loves, as well as smoking, sgraffito, and slip.
