José María Mellado
José Maria Mellado was born in 1966 in Almería. He lives and works in Madrid.
He has been dedicated to photography since the 1990s, exhibiting his work in various galleries in Spain, Belgium, Germany, and France. He gained international recognition for his digitally retouched landscapes, which depict sometimes surreal worlds—either untouched by human presence or, on the contrary, visibly altered by it.
His greatest success and recognition in Spain come from the numerous books he has written on digital post-processing, as well as the workshops he leads around the world.
He also served as President of the Photographic Society of the Real Sociedad for 5 years.
We’ve had the pleasure of hosting two solo exhibitions of José Maria’s work in our showrooms in Nice and Cannes, and showcasing his work at Show Off, an art fair held alongside the FIAC.
Additionally, José Maria Mellado created a commissioned piece in Nice titled « Solitude at the Promenade » (that means “Solitude at the Promenade”). It offers an abandoned portrait of the Promenade des Anglais in broad daylight—a work commissioned by the Pompidou Foundation, Alzheimer Research Center.
