The Maralunga Maxi sofa by Vico Magistretti for Cassina, created in 1973, remains one of the most revolutionary sofas in design history. Vico Magistretti invented the hand-adjustable backrest: a simple gesture on the side chain tilts the backrest into high position (rest) or low position (reading/relaxation). Fifty years later, no other sofa offers such immediate posture freedom.
