This year at the Milan Furniture Fair, Knoll International celebrated its 80th anniversary!

The American brand once again entrusted the design of its booth to the renowned Rem Koolhaas. The exhibition paid tribute to the Whitney Museum by Marcel Breuer, featuring the iconic Wassily chairs and Laccio tables alongside other design classics and the brand-new creations by Piero Lissoni.

It’s always a great pleasure for the Bel Œil team to reconnect with this foundational brand in design history, with whom we’ve been collaborating for 22 years now. Their creations continue to inspire our work in Nice, Cannes, and Monaco.

• From Mies van der Rohe’s “less is more” philosophy, which gave birth to the famous Barcelona chairs in 1929 for the German pavilion at the World Exposition
• To Harry Bertoïa’s sculptural chairs, designed exclusively for Florence Knoll, the visionary behind the brand’s furniture editions.
• Also featured is the “Tulip” line by Eero Saarinen, the designer and architect who, in the 1950s, invented the now-iconic pedestal base for tables and chairs, which remains unmatched to this day.
• … and many other creations by Marcel Breuer, Warren Platner, Georges Nakashima, Frank Gehry, and today, Piero Lissoni, which continue to shape our projects.

We had the honor of dining with the Knoll International team at the top of the Pirelli Tower, designed by Gio Ponti, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of this beautiful and influential brand. A powerful moment in such a remarkable venue, reinforcing the quality of our relationship with this exceptional manufacturer.
