Architecture as a language

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe speaks to us about architecture… Less is more!

The great German architect—once a member of the Bauhaus, and later the creator of numerous iconic buildings, especially in America—shares his perspective on construction and ways of living. He emphasizes the complementarity of the visual arts, sculpture, and architecture, as defined by Gropius and his followers in Dessau during the 1920s.

Bel Œil fondly remembers his Barcelona furniture series, designed to furnish the German Pavilion at the 1929 World’s Fair in Barcelona — a collection still produced today by Knoll International.
