“… erez le paysage !” : Jürgen Nefzger exhibition in Bel Oeil Nice.
Jürgen Nefzger at Bel Oeil Nice. Thanks to a selection of works produced over the past twenty years, this hanging attempts to offer a different reading of his work.
By taking singular images from among his major projects, the artist, in collaboration with Bel Œil, encourages us to reconsider them from an aesthetic angle, in a global approach of taking a political position.
At the heart of Jürgen Nefzger’s work is an engaged gaze carried by the critical observation of society and our lifestyles.
But apart from this initial context, the images also contain a great deal of beauty. It emanates from photographic processing, sensitivity to matter and attention to light.
This aesthetic tries to reconcile us, at least in part, with this world of which we are the architects. “… EREZ LE PAYSAGE”, chosen as the title for this exhibition. It refers to this idea of a photographic journey through years of shots, by collecting the most varied and contemporary landscapes, from the suburban to nuclear. We also find this inscription in the form of graffiti tagged on a wall by ZADist activists in Bure …
Looking at it closely, we can guess the initial injunction: Free the scenery! Maybe in the end a great path to follow …
Several works by Jürgen Nefzger are part of the Bel Œil collection.
